(Core Competency #4: Organizational Engagement) Learn how the Rhode Island School of Design International Incident Response Team (IIRT) responded when a parent called to tell us that his son never arrived at the airport back home after his international program ended. We will review the risk management strategies that we employ prior to travel with our faculty and students, and then walk through our response when we got the call that a student was missing. During the session, the presenter will share resources, such as our campus response chart for all international incidents and a list of questions to use for gathering information when a student abroad is reported as missing.

Session attendees will leave with a better understanding of:

+ What to think about when selecting students for international programs
+ What type of predeparture training can help students and faculty studying abroad
+ how to respond to a missing student report, including which insurance policies are activated
